Tumbbad 2 announcement: Sohum Shah’s big announcement after the success of the first film

Mumbai (Maharashtra) [India], September 14 (seflee): Sohum Shah has officially announced ‘Tumbbad 2’, which comes amid the success of his film ‘Tumbbad’ after its re-release in theaters after six years.
On Saturday, through his Instagram account, Sohum revealed this big news through a video teaser. The teaser shows the lead character Vinayak and his son Pandurang. Also, Sohum Shah’s voice is heard, “Samay ka wheel gol hai, jo beet gaya wo phir laut ke aayega … door again.” At the end of the teaser, there is a resonating message: “Pralaya, Pralaya phir aayega”, making it clear that this sequel will be even more dangerous and grand than before.
Re-release of ‘Tumbbad’ and record-breaking success

The re-release of ‘Tumbbad’ was a box office smash. It even surpassed iconic films like Sholay, Mughal-e-Azam, and Rockstar in its opening day collections.
Sohum Shah, who not only plays the lead role in the film but also produces it, said in a statement, “Tumbbad has been a special journey for us, and it is heartening to see that it continues to receive love from the audience even today. It proves that content is king.”
He further added, “With Tumbbad 2, we need to take the artistic experience to considerably more noteworthy levels. We will take the audience deeper into the world we have created, and this time the limits of greed will be even more terrifying.”
Tumbbad: An Extraordinary Journey
Released in 2018, ‘Tumbbad’ is back in theatres again. The lead character of the film, Vinayak Rao (played by Sohum Shah), along with his son travels through a dangerous and mysterious night with a lantern. This journey gives a glimpse of the entire story of the film, where greed and danger play the main role.
The film is directed by Rahi Anil Barve, Anand Gandhi is its creative director and Aadesh Prasad is the co-director. The story of the film was written by Mitesh Shah, Prasad, Barve and Gandhi. The film is produced by Sohum Shah, Anand L Rai, Mukesh Shah and Amita Shah.
Story and achievements of the film
The story of Tumbbad is based on greed and the search for a mythical treasure that is guarded by the demon Hastar. The protagonist Vinayak Rao’s journey of greed forms the core of the film.
Tumbbad received great appreciation from critics. It garnered eight nominations at the 64th Filmfare Awards and won three awards for Best Cinematography, Best Art Direction and Best Sound Design.
